Center Introduction

I. Establishment Purpose

Originally named the "Chinese Language Center," our center was established in July 2005 and began enrolling international students for Mandarin Chinese courses. In October of the same year, we launched the "Introductory Chinese Language Teacher Training Program," which has since welcomed its eleventh cohort.

Following a visit by the Ministry of Education on December 6, 2006, it was recommended that our center be renamed the "Mandarin Chinese Learning Center." This resolution was passed during the university affairs meeting on December 8, 2006, officially changing our name and designating us as a first-tier unit of the university. In mid-December 2006, we were also recognized as one of the 26 Mandarin Chinese learning centers in Taiwan by the Ministry of Education, allowing us to process admission applications for foreign nationals.

II. Educational Goals

1. To recruit international students and scholars interested in studying Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan, offering comprehensive courses that emphasize listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and providing assistance for their studies and research.

2. To actively promote academic exchange and activities between our center and other Mandarin Chinese learning centers both domestically and internationally, and to cultivate talented Mandarin Chinese language instructors.

III. Development Plans

1. International: To assist foreign nationals in participating in short-term Mandarin Chinese study programs in Taiwan, thereby promoting their understanding of the country.

2. Domestic: To establish "Mandarin Chinese Teacher Training Programs," offering both foundational introductory and practical advanced options for aspiring Mandarin Chinese teachers in Taiwan.
